LEGO Powered UP Updates In The Works

During today’s Fan Media Day presentations, the LEGO® Powered UP team have discussed a few developments with the set powering platform. Various snippets of information revealed include those sets which have their own version of an app, for example, Droid Commander will see their functions folded into the Powered UP app once the original apps are retired. This should give a longer life to sets that require powered elements to continue to be used in some form. The Powered UP app will see additional customization options added included a Widgets Pack styled after LEGO elements. Another interesting function still in the works is a dubbed Powered UP VM, which would allow functional actions to be downloaded into LEGO builds so it can be used away from an app or controller. One thing that has been made clear is that the team is certainly aware of what the AFOL community needs and are working hard to implement them into the Powered UP ecosystem. Further news regarding Powered UP will be share in due course and it’s expected there will be plenty of interesting additions to the theme in 2022.
