A Japanese retailer has revealed the first images of a new sports-related LEGO® set called Icons of Play. The football-themed set shines the spotlight on Woman’s Football, which is nicely timed to link up with the upcoming Women’s 2023 World Cup, kicking off in July. The set features part of a pitch, goal, dugout and stand along with a whopping 15 minifigures. Among those minifigures are a selection of players including Megan Rapinoe, Yuki Nagasato, Sam Kerr, and Asisat Oshoara. I must say it’s a great shame none of the England Lionesses are represented, especially after their iconic win at the Women’s Euro 2022 final, which the LEGO Group was a major sponsor of. The set is listed as being released on June 6th.
