LEGO Fronted Toy Shop Wows The World

Just over a week ago we brought you news of the first toy shop in the UK to stock LEGO® products, being given a very special makeover. LEGO UK took the opportunity to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the brick in a very unique way, which saw 41 LEGO builders recreate the entire shopfront with LEGO bricks. Using over 277,550 bricks all aspects of the Osborne’s Toy Shop in Rushden, Northamptonshire, including signage, doors and even brickwork. The LEGO shopfront stayed clad to the shop over the celebratory weekend of the 60th anniversary, including the actual moment the patent for the LEGO brick was dated on January 28th. Well it seems this unique event captured the eye of LEGO fans worldwide. Will Osborne, owner of the family-run shop, told BBC News “I was talking to one chap who came from Norwich and one guy apparently came from France – obviously a LEGO fan who thought he would never see this again” Will also mentioned how the event helped highlights the important of independent retailers, especially in these challenging times for the high street, especially toy retailers.
