Grab some popcorn, fire up the internet and get ready to complain all over again as LEGO® CON is now available to watch again on YouTube. The family-orientated LEGO live stream took place time from LEGO House in Billund on Saturday and despite not being aimed at AFOL, it was greatly hated by many of them. So if you missed it or just want to get angry all over again head to YouTube.

I think the premise was a good idea. Let’s engage with kids before they hit the dark age that looms on the horizon like a gathering storm. The pre-show publicity touted much to be excited about. Interview with an astronaut; new set reveals; chats with Lego designers. All good stuff! But, on the day, it wasn’t as polished as it could’ve been. Without a live audience the enthusiasm of the presenters felt forced. There was no instant reactions and it just felt awkward.
I think I can understand why many in the AFOL community felt let down. The carrot on the stick, the big reveal, really wasn’t. Lego’s PR machine is leakier than an ill fated, iceberg magnet. And, as a consequence, images of the Star Wars related sets had already been seen on a number of social media platforms.
Get the basics right and everything else simply follows on!
