The Book

One thing that is most surprising about the book is its size. Compared to most other LEGO titles from DK Books, the format it usually small. I’ve popped a Minifigure beside the book to give you an idea of its size. Although it’s smaller there are still 80 pages so there is plenty of content to find throughout.

LEGO Christmas Ideas Book

There is no running thread to the book apart from it featuring a number of Christmas themed build ideas. As with other Ideas books, it doesn’t provide you with step-by-step instructions to build any of the models featured in the book. Instead it’s an inspirational guide to help you build something different with your own collection of LEGO bricks. I know this can be frustrating as not all the images offer a full look the inspirational builds. But there are little box-out which do offer a slightly better look at some of the builds tricky bits or use of usual elements. The book features a variety of different things to build such as ornaments, games, gifts, display pieces and plenty more. For me the highlight is an awesome little Gingerbread train.

The Minibuild Set

The book includes a polybag of elements needed to build an exclusive Reindeer model. It’s a dumpy looking Reindeer but a fun little addition to the book. It uses some decent elements and there are some over so should you wish to transform the Reindeer into a certain red-nosed variant.

LEGO Christmas Ideas Book

Overall

As mentioned above, if you want to take part in this years Build To Give campaign, but you don’t know what to build; then this book could definitely offer some inspiration. But its main aim is to offer build ideas to bring a little brick-filled fun to the festive period. I’m not sure I’m a fan of the smaller format size, but at least content hasn’t been lost due to it. The Reindeer minibuild is a fun addition but I wouldn’t say it’s a must have covermount to add to your collection. Still the book would make a great stocking filler or small gift for a LEGO fan this Christmas. It’s available now from Amazon and selected book retailer.

  1. Hi Adam,

I have the minibuild reindeer and wonder if you could send me a picture of the instructions so I can build it with my niece as I have no clue. I’d be most grateful.

    Thanks in advance.

    Warm regards,

    Anthea
