DreamWorks Trolls Sets Coming In 2020

It’s all kicking off today with the LEGO® reveals and it seems we’ll be getting sets based on the DreamWorks Troll movies, in particular the second movie coming in 2020 called Trolls World Tour. So far all we have to go on is this Minifigure torso tease on social media. Expect the theme to be a one off wave in the same style has Angry Birds set. The colourful world of Trolls will certainly result in a some intersting sets but are LEGO relying on licensed brands a little too much? Or is it fun to have one-off themes like these? We’ll some see when products are revealed closer to their release date.

  1. I think Trolls gives TLG a new medium to use the unique colors of Friends lines in the Lego universe. Additionally, I think it allows for the same amount of creativity Elves had, by allowing the builder to create and play out scenarios from their favorite stories.

As for relying on too many liscensed brands, this is a possible issue, but I also haven’t seen an issue with it for some of the more recognizable partnerships (Disney, Marvel, DC, Jurassic World, Harry Potter, etc.). I think partnering with such brands, will allow TLG to continue to grow their network, and produce incredible products for years to come. Besides – have you seen how many differnt versions of “city” sets they have for every day style sets?

      • It’s possible, a Shrek reboot is in the works. HTTYD may be a little less likely as the films have concluded and Playmobil currently hold the license

    • I loved the Elves sets for the use of colours, so if the Trolls sets are like those, they should be quite funky!
