Christmas Gift Guide: Great Reads

Christmas Day is just over a week away, but there is still plenty of time to grab a great gift for the LEGO® fan in your life. Buying sets can be tricky for some, the person you’re buying for may just about every LEGO going. So your best bet could be to skip actual LEGO altogether and try something a little different. There are a number of publishers who have created plenty of great LEGO books, which would make the perfect Crimbo present. During this past year we have reviewed many of them and they each provide a unique insight into the LEGO brand or LEGO building. Here are some of our favourites. Almost all these titles are available in all good book retailers, supermarkets and online.

The LEGO Book 2018

DK Books have published numerous editions of their LEGO Book but this years edition is rather special as it coincides with the 60th anniversary of the LEGO brick. The LEGO Book is newly updated to include some of the latest happenings from the world of LEGO, such as LEGO House, recent themes and much more. The book also includes a special printed 2×4 brick.

Build Your Own Adventures

Another of DK Books regular LEGO titles are the Build Your Own Adventure range. Each year they release two versions, both features a book of inspirational builds and an exclusive set with a minifigure or mini-doll. This years releases are based on the LEGO NINJAGO and LEGO Disney themes. With both having minibuilds, a poster and bookmarks.

LEGO Micro Cities

No Starch Press may not provide official LEGO books but they still publishing an impressive array of LEGO titles, focused on prolific fan builders and unusual areas of LEGO fandom. One of their titles this year is focused on the world of LEGO microscale. These smaller builds pack in a lot of detail, which proves that you don’t have to build big to create something impressive.

The LEGO Christmas Ornaments Book Vol. 2

You’ll probably already have your tree up and decorated but you can still add some LEGO flare to your festive decorations, with a little help from Chris McVeigh’s second LEGO Christmas ornaments book. This is filled with step-by-step instructions to create 15 different brick-built decorations. Something the family can do on Christmas day.

It contains a trio of books including an awesome activity book, a supercool doodle design book and an inspirational read and create book, where you can design and write your own NINJAGO comics. LEGO Annuals 2019

It wouldn’t be Christmas without a good old annual. This year includes a trio of titles one based on NINJAGO, another on Star Wars and finally one all about LEGO Minifigures. Each book has a host of fun activities to do but the main draw is the included LEGO minifigures. The LEGO Star Wars Annual comes with C-3PO.
