It’s time for a look at the enormous Marvel Hulkbuster in Blocks magazine Issue 99, as well as a deep dive into the Black Panther bust with LEGO Senior Designer Mark Stafford. For those who love LEGO catalogue spreads from the 1990s, there’s a special feature focused on those epic scenes.

Last year, Blocks magazine provided the most comprehensive look yet at how LEGO Friends came to be; with Friends being rebooted for 2023, you can read the story of how the team went back to basics to reimagine the evergreen theme. I truly believe I’m odd! When I chat with AFOL chums and other fans of the brick, they all tell me how much they enjoy Blocks Magazine and, how much I’m missing out by not having a subscription.
I have tried. Recently I purchased the special 90th Anniversary of LEGO edition and the edition edited by Matthew Ashton, which included a selection of favourite MOCs chosen by Matt’s design team in Billund.
My conclusion. I’m not a fan. I skimmed through them. Put them back in their shipping envelopes and will probably never look at either, ever again!
I prefer my news online and current. If I want in-depth information, then I usually do my own research. Plus, they’re not cheap and I’d rather buy a physical set with the money.
Blocks is full of nicely shot images but, it’s for me!
