Chances are if you like LEGO®, then you may well be a big kid at heart. Well you are not alone as last year ‘kidults’ spending on toys increased by 8% and now accounts for 11% of total toy sales. This amounts to a massive £383 spent on LEGO and other toys. In fact the ‘kidults’ market is the fastest growing section of the toy industry. The toy retail environment is currently facing extremely tough times. Toys R Us will soon completely disappear from the UK and other retailers are not best placed to fill the huge gap it will leave. For example Argos closing stores almost weekly in favour of small collection points in Sainsbury’s stores. Other supermarkets are giving less space to toys, and trying to successfully find stuff relevant products on without on Amazon is almost impossible. Yet us AFOLs are still managing to spend the little spare cash we have on LEGO sets and other toys. Via Toy News

£383 per year seems pretty lame. My monthly lego spend is often more than that.

I think that’s the ‘average’ adult us AFOLs are a little more hardcore 😉
