When you first start your Animal Crossing New Horizon adventure, your first days living in your new village are quite basic. This LEGO® Animal Crossing set nicely represents your first days of Animal Crossing life. As one of the smaller sets in the new LEGO Animal Crossing theme, it may seem basic, but does it capture the start of your Animal Crossing journey? Here’s a closer look at Bunnie’s Outdoor Activities.

The set features six different islands to represent outdoor areas of the island you call home when first playing Animal Crossing New Horizon. Before getting your own home and a hefty mortgage, thanks to Tom Nook’s stranglehold on the financial market, you camp out in a small tent. This is simply built with a couple of yellow 6×6 flat tiles, angled to craft a tent. This is then surrounded by other sections, all built upon the island plates.
The use of the island plates means the set can be configured in different ways, allowing you to be just as creative as you can be in the game. You can also add this set to others in the theme, creating a larger playset and your own real-life Animal Crossing village. You could even expand it further with multiples of the same set or with some of the similar elements found in the LEGO Super Mario sets.
I’ve mentioned in my reviews of other LEGO Animal Crossing sets, that the designers behind the sets are big fans of the game and this set perfectly enforces that notion. As you begin your Animal Crossing life, your adventures are limited by a basic toolset. Not only must you slum it in a tent, but you also need to make some Bells so you can upgrade your goodies. You can dig up fossils, shake down fruit and Bells from trees and capture local wildlife. These activities are all represented in the set. But my favourite moment lifted from the game and found in this set is the ability to traverse your island. You don’t have the funds to install bridges in the early days, instead, you hop over gaps with a stick. They can be recreated in the set by popping a stick in a Technic connector hidden behind the water-themed island.
The set only features one minifigure and it’s Bunnie, one of the game series’ original animal residents. Bunnie has appeared in all versions of Animal Crossing and its various spin-offs. Her in-game design has remained the same since the first game. She wears a pale and green lively plaid dress. Unfortunately, that hasn’t translated greatly into her minifigure. The outfit design is only on the torso so it looks more like a jumper. Bunnie is still a nice minifigure and the unique head can easily be reused for many other Animal Crossing characters.
Although a small set and one without buildings, it’s an almost perfect representation of the game’s opening moments. This is the third LEGO Animal Crossing set I’ve reviewed and each one has featured a different type of tree, just like the game. Bunnie is another great minifigure but it does suffer a little by not fully being able to recreate the character’s long top. I oddly like that it only features one minifigure as this is also in keeping with the lonesome times you experience when first playing the game.
