LEGO House opened its doors in 2017 and became the official Home of the Brick. It’s built in the centre of Billund and celebrates the LEGO Group’s long history. As well as showcasing historic products, LEGO House also features a number of unique LEGO creations and experiences. It’s those which have inspired a number of exclusive products sold at the LEGO House LEGO shop as well as being available for a short time on LEGO.com in a small number of countries. Each of the exclusive sets has been recreated for this special GWP set and the best thing is you don’t need to trek to Billund to own it. The instructions features a brief bit of information about LEGO House and the 5 sets which have inspired this set.

LEGO House Architecture Set – 2017

During the construction of LEGO House, the LEGO Group created a special LEGO Architecture set for local businesses to sell. This was later replaced with a more colourful version, which was sold in the LEGO House LEGO store. As with other Architecture sets, it’s styled as a microscale version of the building. In the GWP set, the scale is even smaller but you can instantly tell what it is, even more so with the printed name tile.

LEGO House Tree of Creativity – 2018

The central showpiece for LEGO House is a huge tree which spans a number of floors. The Tree of Creativity celebrates the LEGO Group’s roots in making wooden toys. Each branch celebrates key moments in LEGO history, with fun little scenes and various classic LEGO sets. A smaller version was first given away to those of the LEGO Inside Tour before a retail version was released later. The version featured in this is very small and because of the scale, it loses quite a lot of detail. You can just about make out a Yellow Castle, a car and the crane which tops the tree.

LEGO House Dinosaurs – 2019

Inside the LEGO House is the Masterpiece Gallery, a place where fan creations and iconic LEGO builds are showcased. It’s also home to a trio of life-sized LEGO Dinosaurs. Each of them is built in the 3 main LEGO brick systems – LEGO System, DUPLO and Technic. Obviously, the smaller scale of the dinos featured in this set means they are all built using System bricks, but they represent each of the larger dinosaurs nicely.

LEGO House Limited Edition 1 – Wooden Duck

In 2020, the LEGO House exclusive sets were slightly rebranded to become an ongoing series of sets inspired by classic products and key aspects of the LEGO Group’s history. The first Limited Edition set was inspired by one of the most iconic products first produced by the LEGO Group, back when they made wooden toys. The Wooden Duck was recreated on exactly the same scale and with the same working functions. The version featured in this set is a great recreation of both the original wooden toy and its brick-built counterpart.

LEGO House Limited Edition 2 – Brick Moulding Machine

In 2021, the second Limited Edition set was inspired by a very important piece of machinery used to create LEGO bricks. The Brick Moulding Machine creates almost all the elements featured in LEGO sets and there is even one inside the LEGO House, which produces bags of 2×4 bricks for visitors to take home with them. This mini version is one of the better of builds featured in the set, despite the smaller scale meaning the detail has had to be paired down a lot.

It’s a fun little set, especially seeing how the larger sets have been scaled down. I also like that the nameplates are printed, as they are in the larger LEGO House sets. GWP sets often go for stickers for such details. One thing that goes against the set is the manner in which you get it. Having to spend £/$/€250 to get the set is outrageously steep. I’ve already said £/$/€170 spend limit for previous GWP sets was high but this really is too much. The set will be available for all between November 25th – 28th and will be provided for free when you spend £250/$250/250€ in LEGO stores and online. The set will also be available early for LEGO VIP members during LEGO VIP Weekend starting on November 19th.
