The Builds

Lead Model – Sports Car

The lead model is an convertible sports car and as mentioned in the intro, it’s a vehicle which has appeared in similar forms in past Creator 3-in-1 sets. As one of the smaller of the new Creator sets, don’t expect a highly detailed or time consuming build. It almost feels like a LEGO City set and in fact there is room for a Minifigure to sit in the single seat cockpit. However is doesn’t feel as it’s as detailed as a LEGO City build but at the same time, it also features too many elements. Despite being able to fit a Minifigure, it’s slightly chunkier than a City vehicle.

Although the set may not provide anything too taxing for adult builders, it has a nice selection of elements. With the set having such a low price point, it’s a nice way boost your part collection. There is nothing of any sort of rarity within the parts, but there are plenty of useful pieces.

Model 2 – Hot Rod

The second model, which uses some of the parts from the lead build, is a Hot Rod. This is a similar build to the lead model. Hot Rod’s are known for their exposed front engine, which has been built into the model. Although it doesn’t use all the parts from the lead build, it’s almost the same sort of size. It can also seat a Minifigure, which the seating area almost an exact copy of the Sports Cars.

Model 3 – Plane

The smallest of the three builds is a plane, it appears to mimic some sort of cargo-type aircraft. This is on a much smaller scale compared to the other two builds. The 3-in-1 builds are often limited by the parts included to create the lead build. This certainly feels like the issue here. I quite like the plane though, especially how the Technic beams give the impression of the windows of the plane. Plus the wheel rims, make great engines.

Overall

With a set of this size and such a basic build, it’s quite difficult to go into in depth detail about it. They are clearly aimed towards younger builders, who would get a great deal of joy out of being able to create three different builds. Seeing how the same set of element can be used in different ways could certain inspire younger LEGO fans to start building their own creations. Which is why these sort of sets are so interesting. They may not be that interesting for AFOLs or have the draw of other themes, but they are almost the purest form of LEGO building.
